A Claris Healthcare Case Study

Claris Healthcare has developed a proven platform to deliver extended care directly into the homes of aging patients, addressing remote patient monitoring and social isolation.

Background Information

  • Aging adults make up 19.3 per cent of Canada’s total population, outnumbering children under the age of 15, which account for 15.5 per cent of the population as of April 2023.
  • In Canada, health care and housing are unprepared for an aging population, without the proper systems in place or equipment in hand to address the needs of older adults.
  • A disproportionate percentage of patients that require chronic care are not able to physically access the care they need because of where they live such as in rural areas.
  • “The mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.”
Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, US Surgeon General
  • The risks of artificial intelligence to cyber security are expected to increase rapidly with AI tools becoming cheaper and more accessible.
  • Attackers can use generative AI and large language models to scale attacks at an unseen level of speed and complexity.
  • Hackers can use AI to automate phishing, malware, and credential-stuffing attacks.
  • AI can help attacks evade security systems like voice recognition software in techniques called adversarial attacks.
  • AI can also enable cybersecurity tools and platforms to detect and adapt more readily to various kinds of attacks.

The Solution

Ageing at home… with tech

Claris enables healthcare providers to integrate third party apps and devices into their remote patient monitoring platform to maximize their impact on social isolation, while more efficiently managing the chronic diseases of a rapidly aging population, as well as providing a solution for loneliness in older adults.

Claris understands the challenge of using technology to care for older seniors, so they offer a single, intuitive platform to remotely address both the social and healthcare needs of older adults as they age-in-place.

Our Partnership

Claris Healthcare and Circle established a partnership under the Cyberhealth Program.

This collaboration involved leveraging advanced technologies to enhance patient activation and increase engagement in the shared decision-making (SDM) process. Through the integration of advanced technologies into a patient-centred service design framework, Ayogo aimed to facilitate a more personalized and interactive experience, ultimately leading to improved treatment outcomes and enhanced patient satisfaction.

Partnership Outcomes

Claris Healthcare and Circle worked together to empower patients and clinicians with impactful tools and applications and develop a strong base of intellectual property to drive future value and growth.

Circle had identified and engaged subject matter experts to provide Claris Healthcare with key resources and information to guide future product and service design. This included educational resources for both patients and healthcare providers, as well as insights into current research related to treatment options and patient-involved decision making, and data science.
