Each year, thousands of Indigenous Peoples have gathered on the longest day of the year, Summer Solstice, to celebrate their rich, and vibrant culture. Large outdoor gatherings take place across Canada that encompass cultural songs and dancing, displays of artwork, storytelling, and of course abundant feasts. Spirituality, ceremony, and connections to our ancestors are fundamental aspects of these celebrations. Celebrating our heritage and the diversity across First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Canadians will look much different this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Although the settings and numbers of attendees will differ significantly this year, we are reminded of the power and resiliency of Indigenous Peoples and we still celebrate this joyous day, just in different ways. We are also reminded that no obstacles exist that members of this community cannot overcome. In our commitment to acknowledging and working alongside First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, from our homes and backyards, in small groups of families and close friends, we still will gather to celebrate Indigenous Peoples and we, at Digital Health Circle, invite you to celebrate as well.
