On this day, DHC is humbled to announce its new partnership with Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders Society (IKKES), a BC non-profit that serves the Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders in British Columbia.

September 30, 2021 has been designated the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, acknowledging and honouring Survivors and those affected by Indian Residential Schools and Day Schools. DHC is committed to working alongside Indigenous Communities of British Columbia and continues to foster healthy positive relationships with members of this diverse and resilient community.

In discussing the day, Elder Kendra Crowell told us that “Indigenous Peoples are not out for revenge; [we have] only have sought and continue to seek recognition and pray for the greater community to further educate themselves on Canada’s true history, Indian Residential Schools and its impacts on the Survivors and their families. This is what National Day for Truth and Reconciliations stands for.”
